Observaciones:
La mayoría de la gente piensa que el grupo que revolucionó la música en los sesenta fueron los Beatles, posiblemente están muy equivocados. La propia evolución del cuarteto londinense y la enorme diferencia que se puede encontrar entre el ingenuo Please, Please me y por ejemplo Eleanor Rigby sólo puede explicarse por la influencia de Kinks. Es la diferencia entre practicar música con escobas y calderos a conseguir cierta musicalidad, abriendo las puertas a un amplio horizonte creativo, que los Beatles explotaron muy bien.
A pesar de esto, los Kinks, desde un punto de vista estrictamente comercial, siempre estuvieron en un segundo plano, por detras de Beatles y Rollings, y probablemente también retrasados con respecto a los Who. Su longeva trayectoria se oscureció notablemente a partir de los 70, en parte a causa del mal carácter de su lider único: Ray Davies y también a una búsqueda excesiva de rizar un rizo musical que está limitado para cada persona y para cada tiempo.
